Objectives
For this assignment we were expected to create a short game and produce Lo-Fi and Hi-Fi prototypes of our UI, as well as produce a 1500 word design document discussing them.
We were expected to include 4 different types of collectibles, with a minimum of 30 in the level all together, one of which had to trigger a popup window. We also had to create a health pack that would spawn every 30 seconds and then disappear if not collected.
Additionally we had to have an animated and controllable 3D player character with at least a walk/run state and an idle state, which could be controlled by point and click or keyboard and mouse. All of our game assets had to be found on the Unity Asset Store or other places, but we could only use free assets, and they must be referenced.
The main mechanics were: Picking up a collectible should add to it's count and the score, picking up a collectible that opens the popup menu, picking up the health package should increase the player's health, looped background music, audio effects, and a camera following the player.
For the UI, we were expected to at least include a main menu which would allow the player to pick a character and enter a player name, an end menu when the health reaches 0, with at least quit and replay buttons, as well as the players name and their score, a HUD that tracked health, the number of collected items, the score and featured 2 other elements, and a popup menu that should have at least 2 interactive UI elements and text or images describing the item. While the popup is open, the game should be paused.
