Our theme was "Law", so my group decided to have a private investigator who had been captured by a cult escaping from it, while being haunted by a monster.
We decided to make it in 2D, with a pixel art style.
I was in charge of creating assets for the Monster and Player, as well as a couple smaller assets, like a table and a battery UI element.

The Player Character concept.
He doesn't have a name. I drew up 4 portraits of different characters and we chose 2 because it fit with our investigator character idea more than the others. The first one had been a thought when we had initially wanted to make a generic "everyman" character. The second and third were more down the investigator route, and the last one was playing with the idea of an ex-cultist escaping. I referenced Sebastian Castellanos from The Evil Within quite heavily for this character. |
The Monster concept.
I based it off of my creature "Zanus" that I had created in 2021. I had to simplify the design down quite a bit, but simple is often better, so I kept the elements that would be the most unnerving. I kept the colours dull and washed out to contrast with the player's higher contrast palette. |
